Hometown/World: ... Earth? They don't give a modern reference like a state or country but USA/earth-ish.
Personality:
Minho, like the other Gladers, had his memory wiped by WCKD prior to coming up in the box. Whoever he was before, that person was long gone. One of the first to be placed in the Glade, Minho spent three years fighting and surviving alongside a group of boys before Thomas showed up and changed everything. During that time, he found himself placed in a position of trust and respect - Keeper of the Runners. Physically fast and strong, Minho was tasked with mapping the maze with the hope of finding a way out. His natural ability to lead the other runners combined with a penchant for detail ( remembering everything he saw in the maze so the group could make a small replica ) is what makes Minho such an asset. They know he can do the job, he's loyal, and he takes on the burden of keeping a secret about the maze without any complaint. He believed it was the right decision to make, as it gave the Gladers hope that someday they'll be free, even if Minho, his team, and the leader of all the Gladers ( Alby ) knew that the maze didn't have an exit.
Carrying a level of responsibility, as Keeper of the Runners, Minho struggles to make eye contact with another Runner who has been stung by a Griever. The policy is to banish the person to the maze, as they'll become aggressive and murderous, and when Minho's partner Ben is stung, he knows he has to banish him and he does. But it isn't easy or a choice he takes lightly. It's a rule they have to follow to keep everyone safe. There isn't another option. Minho doesn't necessarily blame himself but as with any good person, he thinks that he could have done something differently or stopped it somehow. He's supposed to be the fastest, strongest, and smartest Runner and he couldn't keep his guys safe. He never leaves a man behind. Usually. Minho knew that the maze was going to close and shut him in over night with Alby, who'd been stung, but he chose to stay with him assuming it'd mean his death. He couldn't leave him there to die alone. Not long after, when a Griever is coming for him and Thomas, he abandons them both and runs off into the maze. This action is a calculated one. Alby has been stung. All the boys who get stung die. If he leaves and manages to outrun the Griever, he might survive. He doesn't want Alby or Thomas to die, but he understands the percentages if he starts running.
When put in a position to speak to the whole group about what happened in the maze and his thoughts on Thomas, Minho is honest. Blunt. He admits he doesn't know if Thomas is brave or stupid, but that they need more of that. It saved his life. Alby's. Minho isn't set in his ways and can adjust to new ideas and new people, unlike some of the other boys. Sure, the danger levels have upped since Thomas arrived, but so are there chances of getting out of that damned Glade - which is exactly what Minho fights for every time he risks his life going into the maze. He's quick to act. He jumps in when he's needed and isn't afraid to face whatever is waiting for them on the other side of the maze. It could be good. It could be bad. Either way, he's going to go for it. After Ava tells the group that they are test subjects and that the Earth had been scorched by the sun, there's an altercation between Gally and Thomas which leads Minho to throw a spear and kill the former. They've known each other for years, but Minho didn't hesitate. It was the right thing to do. Gally was sick, stung, and threatening their chance to get out of there.
Without having time to properly mourn Chuck's death and the assumed deaths of all the boys left behind in the Glade, Minho is taken in the helicopter along with all the others. He's a little shell-shocked but doesn't regret the decisions he's made. During his time in the 'Scorch', Minho is confronted by situations that he's never known before. He loses people and doesn't have time to adjust. He's betrayed by someone the thought he could trust and acts out aggressively, angrily, because of that. He sees what Wicked does to the people he captures and doesn't want that for himself. Minho is self-aware enough to realize that if he were in their shoes, he wouldn't do very well.
Content Warnings: torture, experimentation, ptsd
While Wicked has him, he's tossed around from place to place until he's taken inside a 'safe zone' and experimented on. They inject him with drugs that cause him to hallucinate and is tortured by his captors. Minho struggles to discern reality from fiction afterwards. He doesn't quite know if what he is experiencing is real or not, having to ask and then trust that the person telling him that it's real isn't another vision. He has ptsd from all of it and while that might cause him emotional and intimacy issues, it doesn't stop him from fighting back when he has to. He continues to step up and help his friends, wanting to get them and himself to safety. When he loses Newt, who he'd just got back in his life, it stuns him. They've been friends for years and Newt is one of the people he's always known. His death takes a toll on Minho but he pushes through until they're free of Wicked and in a truly safe haven.
Minho is constantly figuring out who he is and has a lot of healing to do but he's loyal, sarcastic, and focused - all of which make him a good person to have around.
Personal Moral Codes:
→ Minho won't kill anyone without a good reason. He doesn't hesitate when it's necessary, for example an infected about to attack, but he won't do it just to do it. He is a good person who doesn't believe in hurting others unnecessarily. He'll knock a bitch out by running full speed at them and pushing them into a wall, but no unneeded murders.
→ He's extremely loyal to the people he cares about and that way of thinking finds itself in all of his actions. Minho would do anything for the people he loves. Break in somewhere, blow something up, whatever, but it's never thoughtless and there are lines he won't cross.
Insecurities/Personal Demons:
→ Minho's number one personal demon is the fear of being captured again by Wicked. They did some messed up stuff to him and it makes it difficult for him to suss out what's real and what's not. He doesn't want captured again and would do anything he could to make sure that didn't happen.
→ He feels guilty for the people who haven't made it as far as he had. All the lost friends and the friends he could lose in the future. Even though he's in a 'safe' place, it doesn't mean that Wicked can't eventually find them and he's afraid of that.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses:
You wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was going somewhere, I was running!
→ He can run for a long period of time without breaks.
→ His endurance levels are through the roof.
→ He is strong and intelligent.
→ He's a normal human, so no superpowers.
→ He has ptsd.
→ He won't do well in situations that mess with his head.

[After waking covered in an unfamiliar bed, in a house full of people he didn't know, Minho did the first thing he thought of - he ran. Looking for his people until he was exhausted. Then, and only then, did he crouch down and take the time to make an important, fast, message to find his friends.]
I could list all the people I'm looking for but I won't.
[He didn't know where he was or what was going on. It wasn't smart to out everybody.]
I'm Minho. Either you know me or you don't.
[Was his name common here? He hoped not.]
Meet outside the house in an hour if you do.
[If anyone else came, that wasn't really invited, he'd be ready.]
Sample Two:
When's the last time he slept in a real bed? Ate fresh bread? Took a bath in water that wasn't in a pond in the glade? Read a book? Talked to people that were a lot older or younger than him, some of which were women? A long time. Maybe. He couldn't remember. At least three years. This was the kind of life he'd hoped for himself, for everyone. The chance to actually live and while it was good most days, when events allowed, other days - it felt a little too familiar.
Comfortable. Like he was back in the Glade, but the threat always there, even when he couldn't see it. Minho hated days like that, when he was reminded that this place was different and could be good, but it wasn't all that much better than where he'd come from.
Thomas and Newt were here, which helped. He wasn't alone and five out of seven days of the week he didn't think this was something in his head. But he wondered about the others. How they were. Where they were. Had WCKD found them again or was everyone still safe? Was all of this part of another damn test or was it over? He had a million questions and no way to answer any of them.
So he ran.
Every day that was just like this, he ran. He traced the area and mapped it in his head, secretly keeping track as he looked for a way out. But mostly he just ran. He ran because he was good at it. Because it made him feel useful.
